This regulation aims to establish minimum quality, chemical composition, physical characteristics and performance requirements for quicklime and hydrated lime manufactured, imported, distributed and sold in Zambia. Its main objective is to ensure that lime products meet acceptable quality and safety requirements and are suitable for their intended application in construction, industrial processes, water treatment and other approved uses. It also seeks to protect consumers against substandard, contaminated or ineffective lime products and promote fair competition among manufacturers and suppliers
