This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No.209/2026 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six -month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian standard ES 1725 for "Salted fish" (16 pages, in Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 130 /2005 (11 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005 and the Ministerial Decree No. 256/2016 which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1/Add.1 dated 15 August 2016, mandated among others the earlier versions of this Egyptian Standard and the draft of this Egyptian standard was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1/Add.36 dated 8 April 2026.

Worth mentioning is that this standard complies with Codex standard CXS 244 "Salted Atlantic Herring and Salted Sprat" adopted in 2004, amended in 2011, 2013, 2016, 2018 and 2024.

Producers and importers are kept informed of any amendments in the Egyptian Standard through the publication of administrative orders in the official gazette.

Date of adoption: 21/9/ 2026.

Date of entry into force: The day following the date of publication in the official gazette.
