1. These regulations apply to all electrical appliances for which Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) have been established in Nigeria by the Standards Organistaion of Nigeria (SON), including but not limited to-

a) Household refrigerators and freezers (NIS 942);

b) Air conditioners (NIS 943);

c) General lighting lamps (NIS 1209-1);

d) Luminaries (NIS 1209-2);

e) Comfort fans (NIS 919);

f) Television Sets (NIS 957);

g) Electric water heaters (NIS 921); and

h) Electric motors (NIS 1236).

2. These Regulations govern all persons or entities that manufacture, assemble, import, offer for sale, distribute, install, or otherwise place such regulated products, on the market in Nigeria and also apply to all new appliances with established MEPS intended for use within Nigeria.
