This proposed Act hereby establishes the general principles as well as the provisions and organizational processes to ensure safety of food and feed at the national level. It shall institute the structures and mechanisms for control in the area of food safety within the Gambia. It shall apply to all activities and all areas of the safety of foods and animal feeds affecting the health of consumers. It shall apply to all stages of production, transformation, and distribution of food commodities, which are undertaken in the course of a food business. It shall oblige food-related business operators to maintain records and store accurate and appropriate information for both internal and external food supply processes.
