Requires inspection of food packaging, processing or manufacturing premises before the respective products can be certified as suitable for import or export. It aims to limit inspections and testing of consignments at ports of entry. The measure is both SPS and TBT. SPS - It ensures that foods are tested for suitability for human consumption with reference to various existing national regulations that are CODEX based. TBT - The measure ensures that products comply with national labelling regulations that are CODEX based.
