The notified Order defines undesirable substances as any substance or product, apart from a pathogen, that is present in and/or on a product destined for animal feed and which poses a potential risk to animal or human health or to the environment, or which could harm animal production.The Order stipulates that animal feed that is produced domestically, imported or exported must not contain any of the undesirable substances listed in Annex I in quantities exceeding the maximum limits specified in that Annex.Where imported products contain undesirable substances not listed in Annex I, the levels recommended by the Codex Alimentarius are taken into consideration.Animal feed must not contain any additives, pre-mixes, compound feed or supplementary foodstuffs for animals which are not listed in Annex II of the Order or which exceed the limits specified in that Annex.
