Egypt announced its phytosanitary requirements to import potato seeds for the import season 2012/2013 by the SPS notification G/SPS/N/EGY/50 dated 17 October 2012. The Ministerial Decree No. 1448 for the year 2012 stated the import phytosanitary requirements and specifications of potato seeds for the growing year 2013. The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation issued the Ministerial decree No. 1417 dated 28 September 2013, which extends the enforcement of the Ministerial decree No. 1448 of the year 2012 to be followed also for the importation of potato seeds for the growing year 2014. Therefore, the Ministerial decree No. 1448 of the year 2012 is still valid for the importation of potato seeds for the import season 2013/2014. Importation of potato seeds is allowed only from origins approved by the Egyptian Plant Quarantine Service as "approved origins for importing potato seeds into Egypt".
