The notified law seeks to ensure consumer safety by establishing the maximum permissible limits for methane, copper, toxic substances and other substances harmful to human health.It covers the production and marketing of spirits made exclusively with sugar cane, and the establishments that produce this beverage.Spirits produced prior to the entry into force of the notified text may be sold until their expiry date, provided that they do not endanger the health and safety of consumers and are labelled in accordance with Decree-Law No. 24/2009 of 20 July.The notified text repeals Decree No. 132/87 of 12 December and Regulatory Decree No. 140/92 of 14 December.
