This draft mandatory standard provides maximum limits for heavy metals, pesticide residues, mycotoxins and microbiological limits for dry beans (Phaseolus vulgaris Linn) to ensure food safety. The mandatory standard also contains quality requirements for grading, packaging and labelling. Beans traded in Malawi, whether locally produced or imported, should conform to this requirement.
