Fats and Oils Regulations 2005 covers the level of fortification with Vitamin A. It prescribes that the levels should not exceed 20,000 IU/kg. It specifies the source of fats and oils, the classification, definition and specification of fats and oils as provided in the first schedule of the regulations. The composition and quality factors of the individual fats and oils are specified in Schedule 1 to Schedule 14. The regulations contain Schedule 15 which specifies the essential quality factors of margarine and Schedule 16 makes provision for the level of permitted additives to be allowed in fats and oils. It further prescribes prohibitions, penalties and forfeiture for violators of the regulations.
