Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Virus (HPAI) outbreaks have been reported in South Africa. In compliance with Article 10.4.4, Chapter 10.4 of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) Terrestrial Animal Health Code, a temporary restriction on the importation of caged live birds and poultry products (chicken, turkey and ostrich) from South Africa have been imposed, in order to prevent the entry of HPAI into Mauritius.
